Swedish Mission Bethany Cemetery
The Church purchased the land for our cemetery in 1888. At least two people, however, had been buried on this tract of ground prior to that time. The first was a young Swede by the name of Frederick Johnson who died of consumption in the spring of 1871. He lived with his brother in a sod house on their homestead located just south of what is now the cemetery. The second was Agneta Erickson, who died in 1884.
Additional plots have been added over the years. Though our ancestors and friends are no longer physically with us, their faith and spirit lives on through us as a Family Sharing Life in Christ.
In 1989 an Avenue of Flags was erected. Each Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who have served our country in time of war and peace and remember those who have been laid to rest during the past year.
