Our Behavioral Covenant
Definition: A Behavioral Covenant is a gracious agreement of conduct for relating to one another as a family
sharing life in Christ.
Purpose: The purpose of this Behavioral Covenant is to be a vision for our relationships with one another as Jesus would desire.
Scripture: Jesus said, “So in everything, do to others as you would have them do to you, for
this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 7:12
Therefore we will
Focus on building relationships that honor God.
“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every
effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:2,3
Always be considerate and compassionate.
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion,
kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances
you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on
love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” Colossians 3:12-14
Make an effort to include everyone.
“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” I Corinthians 12:27
Intentionally build others up.
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” I Thessalonians 5:11
Listen to, respect, and be open to the ideas of others.
“Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” Romans 14:19
Yield ourselves to the spirit of unity in Christ.
“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves
as you follow Christ Jesus.” Romans 15:5
“May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”
II Corinthians 13:14
